Tour Auto regulars, MR JOHN OF B / SIBEL, in their 1965 Porsche 906
also known as a Porsche Carrera 6,

My final post on the 2020 Tour Auto features some favourite cars that did not appear in my main posts. Particulary, the wonderful Porsche competition cars, such as the 906 and 904, that were honoured in this year's event.  If you missed the other posts then the links are below:

Tour Auto 2020 - Competition - VHC

Winner of the Tour Auto this year was this 1962 Jaguar E-Type 3.8L crewed by
Raphaël FAVARO/Lucien-Charles NICOLET.

The most prestigious competition within the Tour Auto is to be scratch winner of the VHC category.  This category is cars from 1951 to 1965 and of course the car marques and models must be ones that competed in the original Tour de France Automobiles.  In recent years winners have driven cars such as AC Cobras, Ford GT40s, and Jaguar E-Types.  For the last two years (2018 and 2019) the winners has been Raphaël Favaro in a Lotus Elan with Yves Badan as his co-driver.  This year he changed his co-driver and car but still won, this time in the Jaguar E-type seen above.

This year, three time GP winner, Thierry Boutsen took part in the Tour Auto for the first time and actually finished in the top ten of the VHC competition.  He is shown below with many other of the top twenty runners below.

Second were Jean Pierre LAJOURNADE/Christophe BOUCHET,
also in a 1962 Jaguar E-Type 3.8L.  They were winners back in 2015 and 2016.

This 1965 Shelby Cobra 289 crewed by Damien KOHLER/Sylvie LABOISNE was third.

Sébastien BERCHON/Sebastien BORDIER came fourth in this 1956 Austin Healey 100/4.

Fifth was this 1964 Jaguar E Type 3.8L crewed by Christophe DELACHAUX/Josselin PETER.

Bertrand PENLAE/Anne PENLAE were sixth in this 1965 Porsche 911 2.0L.

Another 1965 Porsche 911 2.0L came seventh crewed by
Satanas of Monparnasse/Diabolo de Charbo

Jean-Marc RIVET-FUSIL/Claude LE JEAN were eighth in this 1963 Jaguar E Type 3.8L.

Tour Auto 2020 - Competition - Index of Performance

The winner of the Index of Performance was this 1954 Porsche 356 PreA 1500
crewed by Gilles COURAUDON/Marielle COURAUDON.
The car is seen here in Gien as it drives alongside the Loire river.

There were lots of different marques and models represented in the top twenty of this year's Tour Auto Index of Performance.  With a coefficient of performance decided by the age of the car and its cubic capacity, the cars time in the event is multiplied by the coefficient to decide who does best in the index.  Thus a Mini can battle it out with Ferraris and Porsches and many teams have a chance of top twenty position.  Here are eleven of them.

Lovely to see a Ferrari come second in the Index of Performance.  It was achieved by this 1952 Ferrari  225S Vignale Berlinetta crewed by Diego MEIER/Giacomo AMOROSO

Third was this 1961 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Veloce crewed by
Jean-Yves BEAUPIGNY/Géraud DUMESNE

Fourth was Fabrice QUESNEL/Richard BRULLE in this
1960 Jaguar Mk II 3,8L

First car past us and fifth in the Index of performance was a car I don't think I have ever seen before.
It was a 1955 Pichon Parat Dolomites.  The crew was Hugo BALDY/Romain GRABOWSKI.

For more information about this rare car - Pichon-Parat Dolomites - click here.

Rather more common was this 1966 Austin Mini Cooper 1275S.
Crewed by Hugo BALDY/Romain GRABOWSKI  it came seventh.

In eighth place was this superb 1960 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta
crewed by Benno ALLEMANN/Ursula ALLEMANN

Eleventh in the Index was Joachim von FINCKENSTEIN/Christina von FINCKENSTEIN
in this 1964 Lotus Elan 26R.

Sixteenth was this 1965 Ford Mustang 289 crewed by Philippe LOUET/Bertrand BENARD

In  eighteenth place were Stanislas GURDJIAN/Quentin LEBLOND
in this 1962 Morgan +4 Super Sport

Rounding out the top twenty was this 1956 Austin Healey 100/4 M
crewed by Philippe BRESSON/Philippe LANTERNIER.
