2020 Course de Côte du Mont Dore - CM Motor Cycle Engined Prototypes

The fastest of the CM prototypes on Saturday at Mont Dore was Yves Tholy in this Speedcar GTR.

The CM Prototypes are amongst my favourite cars on the hills of France.  At Mont Dore in August they didn't disappoint and as usual they were fast, noisy and spectacular.  Added to this was the nice variety of marques such as Speedcar, TracKing, Jema, BRC and Silvercar.  These pictures were taken on the Saturday of this CFM championship round near the top of the hill.

2nd fastest of the CM cars was Emilien Thomas in this TracKing RC01.

This Speedcar GTR was third on Saturday driven by Francois Laroche.

Fourth was the TracKing RC01B of Simon Taponard.

The Speedcar GTR of Fabien Borgognon was fith in this group.

Sixth was the Silver Car S2 of Tony Pasteau.

Seventh was this BRC B49 of Jean-Marie Recordier.

This Speedcar GTR was eighth in the hands of Mickael Faucher.

Ninth in the CM Group was Michel Gontier in this BRC B49.

Rounding out the CM top ten on Saturday was the Jema 630 GTR of Michel Perazzi.

2020 Course de Côte du Mont Dore - Prototypes CN/2

Julien Bost in a Norma M20FC, won of the dozen runners in the competitive 2 litre Prototype class.

The CN/2 Prototype cars are over 1.6 litre and under 2 litre open sports cars.  At Mont Dore, all of the entrants were in Norma M20FC cars that dominate this class and also win overall at most regional hillclimbs. However, in the French Mountain Championship there are even bigger capacity and faster cars and thus they just fight for their class.  All of the CN/2 runners at the Course de Cote du Mont Dore that made a run on Saturday are shown in this post.  Below are is the order in which they finished.

1st in CN/2 class.  Marc Pernot - Norma M20FC (5th overall)

Marc Pernot won the CN/2 class on Saturday in his Norma M20FC by over one second.

2nd in CN/2 class - Maxime Cotleur - Norma M20FC

Runner up in the CN/2 class on Saturday was the Norma of Maxime Cotleur.

3rd in CN/2 class - Yannick Latreille - Norma M20FC

£rd on Saturday's CN/2 podium was Yannick Latreille.

Fourth was Alban Thomas, also in a Norma M20FC.

Fifth was the Norma M20FC of Olivier Augusto.

Sixth was Fabrice Gallo in a Norma M20FC.

Seventh was Julien Bost shown at the top of this blog post.

Getting very close to the barrier at the apex is Anthony Carifi in his Norma M20FC.  He was eighth on Saturday.

Ninth on Saturday was Xavier Vair in a NormaM20FC.

Bruno Lamonica rounded out the top ten in his Norma M20FC.

Frederic Ehrhardt was eleventh in his Norma M20FC.

2017 Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix, America's Tire 250 - IMSA Prototypes

Ricky Taylor in the Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-VR leads the field on lap one through turn one at Laguna Seca.   All eight prototype entries including the Daytona Prototype international cars and the LM P2 cars can be seen in this photo.

The America's Tire 250 was the feature race at this year's Continental Monterey Grand Prix weekend.  It was a round of the 2017 IMSA Weathertech SportsCar Championship.  This blogpost features the eight prototype cars that battled for overall victory.  Pictures are from practice, qualifying, warm up and the race.   In qualifying Ricky Taylor was in scintillating form and broke the lap record on the way to pole.  He also led the race early on.  However, yellow flags and pit stop strategies and a last minute overtake meant that the surprise winner was the Visit Florida Racing Ligier JS P2 17 of Renger van der Zande and Marc Goossens.  This was the first win for an LM P2 car in IMSA this year.
