51ème Course de Côte d'Abreschviller-St Quirin - Voitures de Sport - 2023

The second podium of the year for Cindy Gudet in her Revolt.

The third round of the 2023 Championnat de France de la Montagne Voitures de Sport took place at the Course de Côte d'Abreschviller-St Quirin.  Situated in the Moselle department of France the hill climbs up from the village of Lettenbach 2.1km through the forest on the D96 in the direction of St Quirin to "les deux croix".   The shortest climb of the championship, the result is determined by the addition of each competitors two best runs.  This year the CFM competitors all had four runs, one on Saturday and three on Sunday.

"Voitures de Sport" includes sports racing cars, motor cycle engined sports cars and all of the single seater categories.  The fastest cars are in the E2SC 3A class  which are 3 litre open 2 seater sports cars.

Unfortunately, the championship leader, Geoffrey Schatz,  was unable to make any runs due to mechanical problems.

I was there to see all three of Sunday's runs and gradually worked my way up the hill.   Photos I took of the top 20 finishers and most of the class winners are featured below in the order they were classified.

The winner was Fabien Bourgeon in this Revolt 3P0.  He now leads the championship and has won two out of three rounds this year so far.

Second, by less than half a second, was Marc Pernot, in this Nova Proto NP01.  He also now lies second in the championship.

Fastest lady driver and third overall was Cindy Gudet in this Revolt 2P0.

Fourth was Kévin Petit in this Revolt 3P0.

Fifth was Luxembourg driver Canio Marchione in this Osella PA2000.

Sixth overall and first of the single seaters was Miguel Vidal in this Lola-B06/51-Mugen.  This is an ex-Formula Nippon car.

Seventh overall and first in class DE/8 was Fabien Ponchant in a Tatuus Formula Master.

Eighth overall and first if class D/E4 was this Martini Mk62 of Pierre Mayeur.

Ninth overall was this Norma M20F-BMW of Jacky Gourdet

Tenth overall and winner of the F3 class was Daniel Allais in this Dallara F308 Mercedes.

Eleventh overall was this Dallara F311 of Patrick Cholley.

Twelfth overall was this Dallara F308 Mercedes of Arnaud Cholley.

Thirteenth overall, fastest Junior driver and first in the CM class was Maxime Dojact in this TracKing RC01B.

Fourteenth overall was Sarah Bernard in this Tatuus Formula Master.

Fifteenth overall was David Mayeur in this Martini Mk69.

Sixteenth overall and winner of the CN2 class was this Norma M20FC of Enzo Chiocci.

Seventeenth overall was Belgian driver Bruno Cazzoli in this Norma M20FC.

Eighteenth overall was Martini Mk81 of Christian Martin.

Nineteenth overall was Roland Bossy Dallara F314 Spiess.

Twentieth overall was this TracKing RC01 of Anthony Darand.

Swiss driver Xavier Vermeille took the CN3 class win in a Norma M20F.

Winner of the Formula Renault class was Didier Chaumont in this 2013 Tatuus FR.

The Proto GTS of Johann Olivier won the CN1 class.

One of the many contacts with the armo barriers during the day.  Yohann Bardin in his Tatuus FR 2.0 got sideways under braking just after the first shot and glanced into the barriers.  He was unhurt.

Course de Côte d'Abreschviller-St Quirin - Trophée des Nations - 2023

The dominant winner from Slovenia in the Trophée des Nations.

A very nice addition to the Course de Côte d'Abreschviller-St Quirin was a special category for hillclimb racers from other European countries who competed in the Trophée des Nations. Twenty cars were entered from eight different countries and seventeen were classified.   There were some fast and noisy cars and some variety compared to the French championship runners so the spectators enjoyed it.
 

The winner was Slovenian driver Patrick Zajelsnik in this Norma M20 FC

Second was Swiss driver Joël Volluz in this Osella FA30.  He won the Groupe E2 - SS/D/E.

Third was German driver Bastian Voss in this Tatuus Formula Master.

Fourth was Slovenian driver Alexander Zajelsnik in this Norma M20F

Fifth was German driver Dino Gebhard in this Norma M20F.

Sixth was Swiss driver Fabien Houlmann in a very fast Peugeot 205.  He won the E1 Group.

Seventh was Italian driver Egidio Pisano in a big winged Volkswagen Golf 16V.

Eighth was German driver Gerd Kauff in this Dallara TA2 Nissan.

Ninth was Belgian driver Sébastien Starck in this Honda Civic C Type R.

Tenth was German driver Andreas Voss in this Tatuus Formula Renault.

Eleventh was Luxembourg driver Michel Fernandes in this Peugeot 308 GTi.

Twelfth was Spanish driver Ted Santos in a smoky Seat Ibiza.

Thirteenth was Luxembourg driver Sandra Donkels-Becker in this Renault Clio

Fourteenth was French driver Yannick Flammang in this Peugeot 206.

Fifteenth was French driver Kévin Lenoir in this Peugeot 106 PHI Kitcar.

Sixteenth was Luxembourg driver Monique Becker in this Alfa Romeo 147 GTA Cup.

Seventeenth was French driver Lucien Sulprizio in this Peugeot 207 THP.  Here he is at the tight hairpin bend near the start of the hill.  He was the winner and only competitor in Group A.

61ème Course de Côte du Mont-Dore / Chambon-sur-Lac 2021, Sports Prototypes E2SC, CN3 & CN+

Jonathan Dessens in a Funyo SP05 Evo which was running in CN3.

This post from the Course de Côte du Mont Dore 2021 covers all of the Sports prototype cars that we don't normally see in the Regional events as they are only eligible for the CFM National Championship rounds.  Thus specifically the E2SC, CN3 and CN+ class cars.    These cars contain some of the quicker competitors and most of the normal contenders for an outright win, plus the newer Funyo cars that are normally seen on the circuits of France rather than the mountains.  All of the cars that competed are shown below.

No surprise that the overall victor at Mont Dore was Geoffrey Schatz in a Nova Proto NP01-2 conforming to the E2SC-3A regs.

Second overall was Damien Chamberod in a Norma M20 FC also conforming to E2SC-3A regs.

In the same class and in third place overall was Fabien Bourgeon in this Revolt 3P0.

Having driven F3 cars for many years, Billy Ritchen has stepped up to E2SC Protos and is driving this Nova Proto NP01.  he was fourth overall.

In the only CN+ class car present and finishing fifth overall was Kévin Petit in this Norma M20 FC.

The only car running in E2SC - 1A was the Nova NP03 of Axel Petit that finished twelfth overall.

The pretty Osella PA 20S of Cédric Lansard.  Here he is descending the course with insert, him ascending the course in the fog.   He was the first in the CN3 class.

Ascending the course during the fog is Olivier Berreur in a CN3 Norma M20 F.

The first of the Funyo SP05 Evo running in CN3 was that of Jonathan Dessens.

The second Funyo SP05 was that of Dominique Arnoux.

The third Funyo was that of Rémy Brouard.

The Osella PA 30T of Cyrille Frantz did not record a time outside of the practice runs.  he is seen here on the first ascent on Saturday morning.  He was running in the E2SC 3A class.
