2020 Course de Côte du Mont Dore - Prototypes CN/2

Julien Bost in a Norma M20FC, won of the dozen runners in the competitive 2 litre Prototype class.

The CN/2 Prototype cars are over 1.6 litre and under 2 litre open sports cars.  At Mont Dore, all of the entrants were in Norma M20FC cars that dominate this class and also win overall at most regional hillclimbs. However, in the French Mountain Championship there are even bigger capacity and faster cars and thus they just fight for their class.  All of the CN/2 runners at the Course de Cote du Mont Dore that made a run on Saturday are shown in this post.  Below are is the order in which they finished.

1st in CN/2 class.  Marc Pernot - Norma M20FC (5th overall)

Marc Pernot won the CN/2 class on Saturday in his Norma M20FC by over one second.

2nd in CN/2 class - Maxime Cotleur - Norma M20FC

Runner up in the CN/2 class on Saturday was the Norma of Maxime Cotleur.

3rd in CN/2 class - Yannick Latreille - Norma M20FC

£rd on Saturday's CN/2 podium was Yannick Latreille.

Fourth was Alban Thomas, also in a Norma M20FC.

Fifth was the Norma M20FC of Olivier Augusto.

Sixth was Fabrice Gallo in a Norma M20FC.

Seventh was Julien Bost shown at the top of this blog post.

Getting very close to the barrier at the apex is Anthony Carifi in his Norma M20FC.  He was eighth on Saturday.

Ninth on Saturday was Xavier Vair in a NormaM20FC.

Bruno Lamonica rounded out the top ten in his Norma M20FC.

Frederic Ehrhardt was eleventh in his Norma M20FC.

Course de Côte du Mont Dore 2017, Championnat de France de la Montagne Sport.

As well as being a round of the European Hillclimb Championship, the 2017 Course de Cote de Mont Dore / Chambon-sur-Lac was the tenth round of the French Mountain Hillclimb Championship - Championnat de France de la Montagne.  This blog post has photos of the Sports category which includes CN ands CM sports cars and single seaters.  I was there on Saturday morning for the practice and walked the paddock after a big Auvergnat lunch.

One of the highlights of the day was meeting Charlie Martin in the paddock. She spent time talking to us about the challenge of Mont Dore and how the Norma differed from her Tatuus.  I have great admiration for people who follow their dreams.   She finished top female driver, was 27th overall and tenth in a very large class.  Definitely her best performance yet at Mont Dore.

Nice to see something different than a Norma.  Here is a Merlin MP23.

Yves Tholy in his Speedcar GTR.   He was second in his class.

Third overall was Cyrille Frantz in his Norma M20Fc.

Top F3 car was Billy Ritchen in his Dallara F311-Mercedes.

Winner of the CN3 class was this Osella PA27 of Benjamin Vielmi.

First of he Formula Renaults was Estel Bouche in her Tatuus FR2000
