Traversée de Paris Hivernale, 2020

A Simca Aronde passes La Conciergerie, Paris.
It is early January in Paris and for car fans that can only mean the annual Traversée de Paris Hivernale.  About 700 classic vehicles, of over 30 years old, take to the street of Paris on a Sunday morning and pass many of the famous sights of this beautiful city.  This year they took in all 20 arrondissements of what the locals call the escargot or snail. Thus, I took the opportunity to renew my acquaintance with a couple of places that I hadn't been to in a while.  It was a time to see some favourite cars but also discover some cars I had never seen before.  All in all a pleasant Sunday morning watching cars go by!  My snapshots of the event are below:

Some rare or unusual cars
A rare DB Le Mans in the place des Vosges.
Citroen 2CVs may be common but the DF variant by Jean Dagonet is not!
My favourite car of the day was this sixties Maserati Mistral 4000 Coupé.
It is not everyday that you see a Ferrari engined Fiat Dino 2400 Coupé.
An Excalibur.
Some old Peugeots
Vintage Peugeot.
Peugeot 301 from the nineteen thirties.
A Peugeot 203 from the post WWII period.  Notre Dame is in the background.

Traversée de Paris Hivernale 2019

Chenard et Walcker
The Traversée de Paris Hivernale is a big classic vehicle event that takes place in the first half of January every year.   The cars start from the Château de Vincennes and then drive past many of Paris's famous landmarks, stopping to be admired along the way.  This was its sixteenth running and about 700 vehicles took part - everything from bicycles to motor bikes to tractors to cars to vans and more besides.  It tends to be my first event of the year and this year it was a chance to try out my new lens on my Canon DSLR - a 135mm F2.  Below are the results of using that lens and a number of others to get a good variety of shots.   I started at the Sacré Coeur, moved on up to Montmartre, drove down to Place de l'Alma and finished at Place de la Concorde.
Porsche 356 with the Eiffel Tower.
I saw this VW SP2 in Montmartre and later Place de la Concorde.  It was creating a lot of interest as it is rare in France, being a Brazilian made sports car from the seventies.

A much photographed pair in the Place de la Concorde.   A BMW motor bike and side car, not to mention the cute dog.
