Le Mans Classic 2016 - Plateau 4 - 1962 to 1965

Three Ford GT40a lead the field out of the Esses on lap 1 of the first race.
For the Le Mans Classic this year, a bar was erected just after the Esses on the descent to Tertre Rouge.  I spent a pleasant time in the bar supping a couple of beers and taking photographs of these beautiful cars.   Although, Ford GT40s were in abundance in this plateau they never actually won until 1966.  1962 to 1965 was the era of Ferrari domination.   One of the beautiful 250LMs was competing.
The rare 1965 Ford GT Roadster.
1964 Alfa Romeo TZ leads a pai of MGBs and a Corvette.
1964 Ferrari 250 LM.
1965 Porsche 904/6 GTS leads a Morgan.
1963 Jaguar E-Type 3.8.  This car finished eleventh driven by Hall and O'Shea.
Eventual winner, Shaun Lynn in a 1965 Ford GT40, leads a pair of Cobras and some other Ford GT40s.
These two cars, a 1964 Shelby Cobra 289 and as 1964 Porsche 911, started together and ended together in 32nd and 33rd positions.
The Van Riet Ford GT40 was leading after the first race but didn't finish the second.
The winning Shaun Lynn Ford GT40 leads the fourth placed GT40 of Ferrao and Fuster.
Ford GT40 leads Ford Mustang.  This Ford GT40 finished fifth.
1964 Alfa Romeo TZ
The Smith & Cottingham 1965 Ford GT40.  Unfortunately it didn't finish.
The third placed 1963 Shelby Cobra 289 driven by Ludovic Caron.
The thirteenth placed 1964 Porsche 904/6 GTS.
The impressive 1965 Bizzarrini 5300 GT
1961 Jaguar E-Type 3.8L
It is beginning to get dark but not every car has its lights on yet.  The Ferrari 250 LM leads the 1963 Low Drag Jaguar E-Type.
This Ford GT40 had finished third in the famous 1966 Le Mans 24 hours finish.
Jaguar leads a Morgan out of the Esses.
Ferrari 250LM leads the Morgan.  This impressive Morgan finished 19th.
The Rédélé driven 1963 Alpine M63.
