16ème Course de Côte d'Abreschviller-St Quirin VHC 2023

This Martini-BMW Mk43/45 driven by Sébastien Brisard was the fastest of the VHC cars by far  at Abreschviller-St Quirin .  It is a 1987 French hillclimb car.

The Course de Côte d'Abreshviller-St Quirin hosted the third round of this year's Championnat de France de la Montagne V.H.C. for historic and classic cars.  Situated in the Moselle department of France this hill climb runs up the forest for 2.1km with a slope of an average 5%.  Held at the end of April 2023 it attracted a nice field of 18 VHC cars.   They are presented in order in this blog post according to the cumulative time of the best two of their four runs.

Another view of the VHC winning Martini Mk43/45 which is powered by a 2 litre BMW engine.

The 2022 Voiture de Sport VHC Champion, Sébastien Brisard has upgraded from a Martini Mk25 to a Martini Mk43/45 and it is a wickedly fast car that was faster than some of the modern single seaters.  Other cars that caught my eye was the sixties Formula Ford Lotus 51A of Ian Philipp Gibson and the Ford Renault Martini Mk15 of Viviane Bonnardel.  Nice to see a Simca 1200S and thew Marcadier Barzoi as well.   The 2022 Voitures de Production VHC Champion Jean-Marie Almeras continues with his run of successes in his Porsche 935.

Jacky Bonnot in his 1990 2 litre Dallara F390 was second fastest overall and second in his group.

This 1979 Porsche 935 Silhouette driven by Jean-Marie Almeras was third fastest overall and won its group.

Joël Juif in this Renault 5 Turbo won the competition GT group.

This fast 1975 Ford Escort RS1600 Mk1 with a 2 litre engine won the competition touring car group.

Viviane Bonnardel won her group in this immaculate 1975 Martini Mk15, a 1.6 litre Formula Renault car.

This 1990 Lucchini-Alfa Romeo SP90 3 litre won the 2 seater group in the hands of Christian Bouvier.

Michel Rolland came second in the competition GT group with this 1979 Porsche 911 SC.

This Porsche 911 RSR driven by Michel Torcat came third in the competition GT group.

André Tissot came second in his group with this beautiful 1971 Marcadier Barzoi with a 1.6 litre engine.

Fourth in the large competition GT group was Jean-Marie Brisard in this 1972 Alpine Renault A110 1.8 litre.

This 1981 5 litre Mercedes 500 SLC AMG driven by Thomas Poppe came second in the competition touring car group.

Vincent Herbrecht won the classic group in this Ford Capri 3.0S.

This Porsche RSR driven by Hubert Arboux came third in his group.

Philippe Ginel in this 1977 Talbot Simca Rallye 3 came third in its group.

This 1978 1.3 litre Ford Fiesta Mk1 came second in its group.

Ian Philipp Gibson, an Englishman living in Switzerland, came second in his group in this Lotus 51A.

The final VHC competitor was Jean-Marie Pierron in this lovely 1969 Simca 1200S.
