2020 Course de Côte du Mont Dore - 3 Litre V8 Sports Cars

Sébastien Petit at speed in his Nova NP01 near the top of the hill on his first run.

After the confinement due to Covid19 and the cancellation of so many motor sport events, it was good to be back at a French mountain hill climb.  Run over the weekend of 8th and 9th August 2020, I was there at the top of the hill, on the Saturday, in absolutely beautiful hot weather for the first rounds of the 2020 Championnats de France de la Montagne.  It was also a special occasion as it was the sixtieth anniversary of the first Course de Côte du Mont Dore.  They have never missed a year and unusually in this strange year they didn't miss this one either.
Well done to the organisers for maintaining this event.  It was thoroughly enjoyable to be back in the Le Mont Dore / Chambon sur Lac area with the cars roaring up the D36 toward Le Col de la Croix Saint-Robert passing hy the wild flowers, cows and beautiful scenery.
This post mainly covers the Group E2SC cars which is the fastest category running in the French Mountain Championship and is for open sports cars running with 3 litre V8 motors from F3000 cars.  Only three cars were running in this category but they were a delight to see.  There was also one of the older CN+ cars running which similarly is a 3litre V8 open sports car.
All four cars are shown below in the order of their fastest time on Saturday;
Last year's winner Geffrey Schatz in a Norma M20 FC was fastest on the Saturday.
Geoffrey Schatz with typical local scenery in the distance.  This locality has many old volcanic peaks.
2017 and 2018 CFM champion Sébastien Petit  was second fastest in his Nova NP01.   Nova is continuing the development of Norma on the hills.
Fabien Bourgeon is his Revolt 3PO.  Nice to see a car that looks difference from the Normas.

Many more posts on the 2020 Course de Côte du Mont Dore Champon sur Lac coming soon.
