Paris-Rambouillet 2018

A Unic car, a French marque that existed from 1905 until 1938 as a car manufacturer.

This lovely little event commemorates the 1899 Paris-Rambouillet race won by the Renault brothers.  This was the 5th running of the event and it attracts a nice field of mainly pre-1918 cars. It is similar in some ways to the London to Brighton run in England but allows later cars.  We caught up with the event as it drove through the beautiful grounds of l'Abbaye des Vaux de Cernay.  They had already driven from Les Invalides in Paris to Versailles and then through the La Vallée de Chevreuse.   After a photo stop at Cernay they were off to Rambouillet and the finish and of course lunch.    As usual many of the drivers and passengers wore period costumes.  Although they were an hour late in arriving it was worth the wait.   We only saw the first arrivals as we were off to lunch ourselves.  Lunch is very important in France!   There were about 80 cars on the run and you can see a dozen or so below.  Well done to Renaissance Auto the organisers.
