Laguna Seca Spring Classic 2018 - Stock Cars 1974 to 2007

Winner of the second race on Saturday was Mac McGarry in this 1989 Chevrolet Lumina.  Here he is at the final turn.
Group E at the Laguna Seca Spring Classic was for 1974 to 2007 Stock Cars such as Nascar cars.  Fifteen cars started the first race on Saturday with ages running from the late eighties to the mid 2000s.  These were not cars I had seen before except on television but I saw the two races for them on Saturday.  I particularly liked the pictures at the final corner taken by poking my compact camera through the mesh fencing and then aiming through one of the holes designed for the pros.
It is just after seven O'Clock on Saturday morning but it is one of my favourite times at Laguna Seca, especially when a few cars start firing up their engines.   This is the winner of the second race again in the wonderfully old fashioned paddock where you can actually still see the cars.
One of the old Richard Petty cars, a 1994 Pontic Grand Prix, on the warm up lap.
The first lap of the first race at turn one with a 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass leading.
The stock cars all negotiate the Andretti hairpin.
1998 Ford leads a tight group under braking.
1993 Ford T-Bird leads a 1995 Ford T-Bird through turn five.
Work going on in the paddock during the lunch break on this 1993 Chevrolet Lumina.
1992 Chevrolet Lumina in the paddock.
1991 Ford T-Bird in the second race on Saturday.
2001 Ford T-Bird.
Steve Beck in this 1995 Ford T-Bird came third in the second race.
2001 Dodge intrepid.
1993 Ford Thunderbird.
Battle in the last corner of the last lap for third place with the Ford leading a 2005 Dodge Charger......
........and then they cross the line to take the chequered flag.
Lots more from the Spring Classic at Laguna Seca coming soon.  Click on the follow button not to miss it or follow AutoVitesse on facebook.
